Both “về” and “đến” can be translated as “to go/come”, but they carry different feelings:
“về” = to return to a familiar place (home, hometown, family). It has the sense of “going back.”
“đến” = to arrive at or go to any place, even if it is new or not home.
👉 “về” = go back / return
👉 “đến” = come / arrive
Examples
Tôi về nhà lúc 10 giờ.
→ I returned home at 10 o’clock.
Cô ấy đến Việt Nam năm ngoái.
→ She came to Vietnam last year.
Cuối tuần này tôi sẽ về quê.
→ This weekend I will go back to my hometown.
Khi nào bạn đến công ty?
→ When will you arrive at the company?
Notes & Tips
Use “về” when talking about home, family, or origin.
Use “đến” for any destination (school, office, city, country).
Mixing them won’t stop communication, but using the right word makes you sound more natural.
